Hawaii vs USC on Thursday should be boring as ever with USC throttling the Warriors and running up the score 40 – 50 points and the Warriors maybe in single digits. Anything closer and if Hawaii can play defense and slow the Trojans makes this game worth watching.
This weekend will mark the final cuts and will Tim Tebow be a part of the Patriots since he didn’t show much in the exhibition games. But Belichek isn’t going to reveal a lot and McDaniels did draft Tebow and is the offensive coordinator so it’s a 50-50 chance he’ll make the team.
The bad thing for Tebow was the playcalling made him seem like he didn’t do much. But you’ve got to establish other players beside Tebow or the defense will do to him what was done to him in exhibition games which is just attack him and ignore everyone else. I think everyone is lulled into playing the same type of defense against him. But if you can establish a running game with the option which is a must the middle of the defense just can’t come and get Tebow. As soon as you can do that now Tebow is open to rolling off the fake and having receivers drag across the field and Tebow is in a good position to make plays.
Anytime you have quarterbacks that have different skill sets you have to design an offense that caters to them. But most coordinators and head coaches try and force quarterbacks to fit into offensive schemes that aren’t really suited to them.
