If I’m Don Mattingly I’m feeling no love from the Dodgers organization.  Here is a guy who keeps on improving the record since he came to the Dodgers and they’ve not paid him or shown that they think he can manage the team.

After appearing in the playoffs and the eventual loss to the Cardinals which the Dodgers seem they can’t beat teams in red.  Like the Phillies, Reds, Red Sox.  Okay maybe they can beat the Angels.  Maybe.

Anyway Mattingly should seek other opportunities because if the management isn’t going to support him now they’ll only wait and see until they can get rid of him.

The management might want to bring in one of their favorite managers who they like.  If you see the Dodgers hire someone else and give them a long term contract you know it’s because of the relationship or the belief that another guy can get it done.

I think from what I’ve been hearing Mattingly isn’t going to be back and the Dodgers will hold a press conference thanking him saying they had differences and both parties decided to move on.  Then the big press conference and all smiles and then the announcement.  Since he’s confirmed to return in 2014 watch out for the end of next season.

I think he did a good job.  Managers will always be questioned.  But make it to the playoffs is a winning season.  Remember no manager can bat, pitch or make plays.

If Mattingly can get the Dodgers to the World Series, or win the series he might get a long term deal.
